Lady Chargers second at state powerlifting meet

By the slimmest of margins, the Jefferson County North girls’ power lifting team came in second at the 3A state power lifting meet in Marion, March 31. After winning the 2A state meet a year ago, the JCN girls scored 38 team points to place second behind Caney Valley, with 39 points in the 3A meet.

Tomlinson won the 165-lb. weight class with a three lift total of 510 pounds.

Casey placed second in the 105-lb. class with a three lift total of 290 pounds. Casey won gold medals in both the bench press and the clean. Her best lift on the bench was 70 pounds and her winning clean was 80 pounds. Casey also earned a silver in the squat with a lift of 140 pounds.

Kelsey Schuler also placed second in her weight class at 123-lb. Her three lift total was 400 pounds. Schuler placed second in the squat at 210 pounds and third in the bench at 95 pounds. Her clean was also 95 pounds.
