Piper 55, Perry-Lecompton 46
• A 9-point swing in the second quarter helped Piper build a lead and the Pirates held off the Kaws in the fourth quarter to drop Perry-Lecompton to 11-7. Sophomore Joel Gantz scored 15 points and senior Brian Hastert scored 10 points in the loss for the Kaws.
JCN 58, Pleasant Ridge 48
• JCN built a 9-point halftime lead and made it stick to move to 9-7. Senior Wes Weishaar led the Chargers with 24 points and senior Drew Kraxner added 10 in the win.
Jefferson West 58, Nemaha Valley 50
• West held on to a 2-point lead entering the fourth quarter and pulled away to win and move to 8-9. West was led by 27 points from junior Tom Shirley and 10 points each from junior Miles Wulfekoetter and senior Brock Anderson.
Horton 65, McLouth 48
• McLouth took the loss to drop to 7-8. Junior Mike Rome scored 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for the Bulldogs in the losing effort.
Maranatha 52, Oskaloosa 46
• Oskaloosa came back from an early deficit to take a 2-point lead into the fourth quarter but couldn’t hold off the Eagles in dropping to 2-13. Sophomore Chase Tenpenny scored 16 points while junior Brock McGinnis scored 14 in the loss.
Doniphan West 55, Valley Falls 37
• Valley Falls fell further behind each quarter in dropping to 0-16. Junior Cameron Bickford led the Dragons with 8 points.
Girls
Oskaloosa 46, Maranatha 33
• Oskaloosa led by 2 at halftime before blowing the game open in the fourth quarter to move to 8-7. Senior Lindsey Ottensmeier led the Bears with 15 points, including 13 in the fourth quarter, while senior Carol Allen scored 10 points in the win.
Horton 41, McLouth 39
• Horton had an 8-point lead entering the fourth quarter and had to hold off the Bulldogs. McLouth moved to 6-10. Freshman Missy Rome scored 13 points and junior Abby Annis scored 10 in the loss.
Nemaha Valley 51, Jefferson West 39
• West trailed throughout the game in dropping to 6-12. Junior Nichelle Palmateer scored 15 points and junior Marcia Beecham scored 10 in the loss for West.
Piper 66, Perry-Lecompton 40
• Piper led throughout to drop Perry-Lecompton to 5-13. Junior Holly Fornelli scored 10 points to lead the Kaws.
Doniphan West 49, Valley Falls 31
• Valley Falls held a 4-point halftime lead but got outscored, 34-12, in the second half to drop to 4-13. Sophomore Tess Robinson led the Dragons with 8 points.
Pleasant Ridge 37, JCN 31
• The lead see-sawed between the teams until Ridge outscored North, 13-6, in the final period to drop the Chargers to 4-13. Freshman Mallory Grand Pre scored 10 points to lead JCN.

Girls
Wathena 38, Oskaloosa 29
• Wathena outscored the Bears, 27-15, in the second and third quarters en route to the 9-point win. The Bears dropped to 7-7. Senior Carol Allen led Oskaloosa with 14 points.
Pleasant Ridge 53, McLouth 21
• An 18-2 third quarter put the game away for Ridge as McLouth dropped to 6-9. Senior Rachael Thompson scored 7 points to lead the Bulldogs.
Royal Valley 52, Jefferson West 38
• West rallied from a 15-point halftime deficit to close the gap to 5 to start the fourth quarter but couldn’t get the win in dropping to 6-11. Junior Marcia Beecham scored 8 points to lead West.
Bonner Springs 51, Perry-Lecompton 35
• Bonner established a 20-point halftime lead and held off the Kaws in the fourth quarter to win by 16. Sophomore Ashleigh Allam scored 11 points to lead the Kaws. The Kaws moved to 5-12.

• Horton led by 9 after one quarter and didn’t look back in coasting to the 30-point win to drop the Dragons to 4-12. Junior Rebekah Bunde led Valley Falls with 11 points.

• Neither team had more than a 1-point lead at the end of any quarter until the Thunder pulled away in overtime to defeat North in Lenexa. Sophomore Lisa Weishaar scored 11 points to lead the Chargers.

• North squandered an 11-point halftime lead to lose to the Thunder by 3 in Lenexa and drop to 8-7. Senior Wes Weishaar led the Chargers with 16 points.

• The Rams cut a 7-point McLouth lead entering the second quarter to 1 entering the fourth quarter but the Bulldogs pulled out the win to move to 7-7. Junior Mark Stewart scored 22 points, senior Trevor Keling scored 16 and senior Andrew Booth scored 12 in the win for McLouth.

OKWC competes in two Topeka meets
The Oskaloosa Kids Wrestling Club participated in two meets in Topeka over the past weekend.
Some club members participated in the Topeka Tornados Tournament on Saturday. Second place winners were Dillion Grother in the age 8 and under 61-lb. class and Dalton VanHoutan in the 8 and under 73-lb. class. Justin Cross was third in the 8 and under 95-lb. class. Fourth place winners were Carter Claxton in the 8 and under 55-lb. class, Tegan Bowers in the 8 and under 95-lb. class and Jason Warden in the 10 and under 82-lb. class. Participation recognition also went to Nicholas Courtney, Kelsey Willits, Kyle Herzberg and Dakota Cop.
OKWC members participated in the Shawnee Heights wrestling tournament on Sunday. First place winners were Easton Weems in the 6 and under 43-lb. class, Triston Hopkins in the 6 and under 49-lb. class, Jerod Shufflebarger in the 6 and under 49-lb. class, Jaxson Webb in the 6 and under 55-lb. class, Jared Miller in the 6 and under 58-lb. class, Zach Harvey in the 6 and under 70-lb. class, Dillion Grother in the 8 and under 61-lb. class, Dalton VanHoutan in the 8 and under 73-lb. class and Ben Harvey in the 8 and under 80-lb. class.
Second place winners at Heights were Kyle Hopkins in the 8 and under 73-lb. class and Justin Cross in the 8 and under 95-lb. class. Third place winners included Thaine Berends in the 6 and under 46-lb. class, Tegan Bowers in the 8 and under 95-lb. class, and Wyatt Troupe in the 10 and under 90-lb. class. Fourth place winners were Colby Peck in the 6 and under 55-lb. class and Brody Troupe in the 8 and under 64-lb. class. Participation recognition also went to Toby Berends, Carter Claxton, Nicholas Courtney, Cody VanHoutan, Cole Murphree, Mark Nickels and Dakota Cop.

• The Kaws blew open a 5-point halftime lead to improve to 10-6. Senior Brian Hastert led the Kaws with 12 points while sophomore Joel Gantz and junior Caleb Denton scored 11 each and sophomore Andy Bowman scored 10.
Wathena 46, JCN 38
• The Chargers were dug into a 6-point hole after one quarter but came back to take a 2-point lead into the fourth quarter before Wathena got the win. JCN moved to 8-6. Senior Daniel Finley scored 14 points and senior Wes Weishaar scored 12 in the loss.
Hiawatha 53, Jefferson West 45
• The Red Hawks scored the first 16 points of the second half to surge ahead from a tie score at halftime and drop West to 6-9. Junior Tom Shirley scored 18 points and senior Derek Helton added 11 for West.
McLouth 62, Oskaloosa 49
• McLouth took a 7-point lead after one quarter and was able to pull away in the second half to win by 13 and drop Oskaloosa to 2-11. McLouth moved to 6-7. Senior Andrew Booth led the Bulldogs with 27 points and 14 rebounds while junior Mark Stewart added 13 points in the win. Oskaloosa was led by 15 points from sophomore Chase Tenpenny, 13 points from junior Derek Brey and 11 points from junior Brock McGinnis.
