Three of 10 boys from Jefferson County North earned top three places at the 3A state power lifting meet at Marion, March 31.
Abraham Noll led the way for the Chargers by winning three gold medals and earning the award for the best lifter in the lightweight divisions. Winning the gold in the 148-lb. class, Noll had a state best three lift total of 880-pounds. On the way to that total, he won the squat with a best lift of 410 pounds. He also won the clean at 260 pounds. His bench of 210 did not earn a top three placing, but helped him earn top lifter award.
Jeff Ferguson placed third in the 123-lb. class. He also took third place honors in the bench at 95 pounds and the clean at 130 pounds. With a personal best of 440 pounds Mike Miller placed third in the squat in the 198-lb. class. With a bench of 235 pounds and a clean of 225 pounds Mike Miller was also fifth in his weight class.
Six other Chargers also competed at the state meet; Ely Henry, Andy Swoyer, Johnny Schmidt, Lance Lackey, Pat Miller, and Greg Campbell.
