State wrestling qualifiers

Oskaloosa senior wrestler Zach Beach earned a return trip to the state tournament by placing in the 160-lb. division at regionals Friday and Saturday in Rossville.

With the fourth-place finish, Beach moves on to state Friday and Saturday at Hays. Adam Engleken, Dusty Kitchen and Bobby Hopkins also competed for Oskaloosa. Engelken missed going to state by one place.

Seven Jefferson West wrestlers and four Perry-Lecompton wrestlers are also bound for state in Salina after the 4A regional in Perry. The Tigers finished second as a team in the regional behind champion Clay Center. Perry-Lecompton was sixth as a team.

West senior Dylan Mumaw continued an undefeated season in the 135-lb. class as he was named co-outstanding wrestler at the regional tournament. Senior Austin Lee also captured an individual title at 152 lbs. while freshman Cass Steele did the same at 103 lbs. Junior Zach Reeb was runner-up at 140 lbs. to qualify for state while freshman Clint Lee was third at 125 lbs. Senior Brandon Langston was fourth at 145 lbs. and freshman Ethan Mumaw was fourth at 160 lbs. to also earn a trip to Salina.

Perry-Lecompton was led by a second-place finish by Colton Miller at 125 lbs. Alex Hackathorn won by default for third in the heavyweight division while John Mehl was fourth at 112 lbs. and Jacob Callahan was fourth at 130 lbs.
