• Oskaloosa led by 6 at halftime but got outscored, 34-24, in the second half to end the season at 11-11. Junior J.T. Thurston led the Bears with 20 points while junior Chase Tenpenny scored 16 and senior Boone Heston scored 10 points.
McLouth 63, JCN 49
• The Bulldogs avenged an earlier defeat by knocking off the Chargers thanks to outscoring JCN, 32-13, in the second and third quarters. Senior Mike Rome led McLouth with 21 while junior Derrick Crouse scored 14 points, senior Mark Stewart scored 13 and sophomore Cole Batman scored 10 as the Bulldogs moved to 7-14. North’s season ended at 11-10. North was led by 18 points each from seniors Chris Noll and Luke Noll.

• Hayden led, 45-26, at halftime in ending West’s season at 6-15. Senior Tom Shirley was the only Tiger in double figures as he scored 16 points in his final high school game.

• The Chargers avenged a 20-point loss to the Panthers only a week prior to the game by building a 9-point halftime lead and holding on to move to 18-5 and into the substate championship. Junior Amelia Noll scored 15 points and Navinskey scored 13 points in the win for JCN.
ACCHS 49, Oskaloosa 32
• A dismal first half for the Bears gave ACCHS a 31-7 halftime lead as the Tigers ended Oskaloosa’s season at 17-6. Rockhold led the Bears with 14 points in the loss.

• Perry-Lecompton came back from a 9-point halftime deficit to make the game close at the end but a potential game-tying 3-pointer by senior Caleb Denton was wiped away by a timeout by coach Jeff Dickson. Denton’s ensuing try missed its mark and the Kaws ended the season at 19-3. Morgison scored 15 points and Denton scored 14 points in the loss.

State wrestling qualifiers
Oskaloosa senior wrestler Zach Beach earned a return trip to the state tournament by placing in the 160-lb. division at regionals Friday and Saturday in Rossville.
With the fourth-place finish, Beach moves on to state Friday and Saturday at Hays. Adam Engleken, Dusty Kitchen and Bobby Hopkins also competed for Oskaloosa. Engelken missed going to state by one place.
Seven Jefferson West wrestlers and four Perry-Lecompton wrestlers are also bound for state in Salina after the 4A regional in Perry. The Tigers finished second as a team in the regional behind champion Clay Center. Perry-Lecompton was sixth as a team.
West senior Dylan Mumaw continued an undefeated season in the 135-lb. class as he was named co-outstanding wrestler at the regional tournament. Senior Austin Lee also captured an individual title at 152 lbs. while freshman Cass Steele did the same at 103 lbs. Junior Zach Reeb was runner-up at 140 lbs. to qualify for state while freshman Clint Lee was third at 125 lbs. • The Dragons fell to 8-10 as Horton took a 25-16 halftime lead and held on. Senior Rebekah Bunde scored 22 points for Valley Falls.

• The Bears couldn’t hold on to a 3-point halftime lead in falling to 11-8. McGinnis led the Bears with 19 points while Thurston scored 15 and Tenpenny added 11.

• Valley Falls led by 1 at halftime but got outscored, 39-19, in the second half to fall to 6-13. Junior Ray Cook scored 17 points while Bunde added 13 in the loss.
Pleasant Ridge 53, McLouth 44
• The Bulldogs dropped to 5-13 with the loss. Senior Mark Stewart scored 19 points while senior Ryan Smith scored 14 for McLouth.

• North pulled away in the fourth quarter to win by 12 and move to 6-1. Valley Falls dropped to 3-4. Weishaar hit six 3-pointers en route to 23 points while sophomore Sara Navinskey added 14 points for the Chargers. Junior Chelsy Lassiter led Valley Falls with 11 points.
Oskaloosa 43, Doniphan West 29
• The Bears took a 12-point halftime lead en route to the win in moving to 6-1. Rockhold led the way with 18 points.
Jefferson West 48, Sabetha 38 (OT)
• West came back from a 1-point fourth-quarter deficit to force overtime before pulling out the win to move to 4-3. Beecham led West with 12 points.

• The Bulldogs ran to a 37-12 halftime lead before coasting to the win to improve to 3-3. Annis and sophomore Melissa Rome scored 20 points each with Shufflebarger scoring 12 in the win.

• Oskaloosa built a 23-point lead entering the fourth quarter en route to the win to move to 7-3. The Dragons dropped to 4-7. McGinnis scored 22 points while junior Chase Tenpenny scored 12 points and senior Boone Heston scored 11 points for Oskaloosa. Valley Falls was led by 20 points from senior Cameron Bickford.
