Oskaloosa runners compete at Royal Valley
Runners on the Oskaloosa High School cross-country team recently competed in a meet at Royal Valley High School. Following are the Bears’ individual results:
Girls – Audrey Metzger, 12th.
Boys – Adam Engelken, 23rd; Travis Hattemer, 25th; Brian Henry, 27th.
JV boys – Stephen Metzger, seventh; Jacob Rhodes, eighth.
North runners place at Holton, Troy meets
The Jefferson County North boys cross-country team recently finished second at the Holton meet and took the team title at the Troy Invitational. Individuals receiving medals at the events were:
Holton – Varsity: Spencer Wilson, eighth; Jon Peres, 12th; Matt Finley, 14th; Landon Noll, 15th; Cody McMahon, 16th; Dalton Speer, 17th. JV: Scott Noll, second; James Tillotson, third; David Erhart, sixth. Girls JV: Lincoln Kingman, first.
Troy – Varsity: Wilson, third; Peres, sixth; Speer, seventh; Finley, eighth; L. Noll, 12th; S. Noll, 13th; Tillotson, 14th, Erhart, 15th. Girls varsity: Kingman, eighth.
PLHS, West lead county at McLouth CC
The Jefferson West boys and Perry-Lecompton girls paced the county teams taking part Sept. 13 in the McLouth Invitational cross-country meet.
Tonganoxie won both the boys’ and girls’ team titles in fairly convincing fashion. The West boys were sixth while the Kaw boys were seventh. McLouth and Valley Falls also took part but didn’t field enough competitors for a team score. The Kaw girls were second followed by West in third.
The girls’ race featured four countians in the top 10, including individual champ Taryn Brees from Jefferson West and second-place finisher Katie Hirsch of Perry-Lecompton. The Kaws’ Maggie Kuhlman was fifth and West’s Heather Wright was seventh.
